Draft environmental statements <br />were filed for the Uintah Unit of the Cen. <br />tral Utah PrOject in eastern Utah and the <br />Paradox Valtey Unit of the Colorado River <br />Basin Salinity Control Project (CRBSCP) <br />In western Colorado. A supplement to the <br />Bonneville Unit tinal environmental state. <br />ment was prepared and filed for the <br />Recreation Master Plan at the enlarged <br />Strawberry Reservoir. A study of Stage <br />One of the Grand Valley Unit, also part of <br />the CRBSCP. showed the project wOuld <br />have no signdlcant environmental impact. <br />An additional 16 environmental assess- <br />ments were prepared_ <br /> <br />Several maJor environmental studies were <br />initiated. Included were studies 01 the <br />aquatic and terrestrial biology of Utah <br />Lake and a study of the native fish <br />species in the Green River below Flaming <br />Gorge Dam. <br /> <br />In June, the Environmental Defense Fund, <br />Trout Unlimited. and the Wilderness <br />Society hied suit against the Waler and <br />Power Resources Service. The suit asks <br />that the Service prepare a comprehensive <br />environmental statement on all fUlure <br />projects. To date, Congress has not <br />funded such a study. <br /> <br />5 <br />
