It;s
expected that wilderness values would
eventually be lost on the 3,205 acres
recommended nonsuitable.

Although the 1.505 acres recommended
suitable would be withdrawn there should be
no impact on potential development since
potential is low. The remaining area would
rernai n open to entry wi th one mi ne
projected in the southeast portion of the
W5A.

The backcountry recreation setting would be
maintained in both the suitable and
nonsuitable areas except in the vicinity of
the mineral development where it would be
influenced by the sights and sounds of
mining activity. The existing use in the
suitable portion of 1200 RUDs would
increase by about 9 percent annually.

Mineral exploration and
result in a loss of soil
to 40 acres, and
degredation of water
Creek.

development would
productivity on up
an unquantified
quality in Henson

All Wilderness Alternative

The enti re 4.710 acres waul d be recommended
as suitable for wilderness designation.

Wilderness values would be protected on all
but 300 acres where they could be lost due
to mineral development.

Exploration would be precluded with the
entire 4.710 acres. Development of one
mine in the southeastern portion of the WSA
is projected to occur as a result of valid
existing rights.

The backcountry recreation setting would be
maintained except in the vicinity of
projected mineral development where it
would be affected by the sights and sounds
of mining activity. The existing use of
1500 RUDs would increase by about g percent
annually.

vi i

50il productivity would be lost on up to 25
acres and wa ter qual i ty woul d be degraded
in Henson Creek as a resul t of mineral
development.

No Wilderness Alternative

The enti re 4,710 ac res woul d be recommended
as nonsuitable for wilderness designation.

Wilderness values could be lost on up to
320 acres as a resul t of projected mineral
activity. It is expected that in the long
term wi 1 derness va 1 ues woul d eventually be
lost on the entire 4,710 acres.

The enti re WSA would remain open to mineral
entry with production of base and precious
metals projected.

The existing backcountry recreation setting
woul d remain except where al tered by
mineral development. Use of the area would
increase over the existing 1500 RUDs by
about 5 percent annually.

Mineral development would result
of soi 1 producti vity on up to 40
a reduction in water quality
Creek.

in a loss
acres and
in Henson

Bill Hare Gulch (CO-030-085)

Proposed Action (No Wilderness Alternative)

None of the 370 acres would be recommended
as suitable for wilderness.

Wilderness values, which exist only in
conjunction with the adjacent Big Blue
Wilderness, would not receive legislative
protection. However. since the area has
low mineral potential and no developments
are predicted, wilderness values are not
likely to exceed 100 RUDs annually.

All Wilderness Alternative

The enti re 370 acres would be recommended
as suitable for designation.
