O()33/t~

us to begin to analyze impacts of proposed water development on future streamflow
in the basin.

The Board of Directors has adopted a $195,100 FY83 budget (October 1982 -
June 30, 1983) and a FY8lf budget (July 1983 through June 1981f) in the amount of
$272,200. The FY8lf budget will require contributions from the 10 states in the basin
ranging from $15,400 to $25,500 per state.

I believe I speak for the entire Board of Directors in stating that this first year of

activity has been productive and that the effort of everyone involved has been well

spent. The Missouri River basin states have a long history of cooperation in water

resources management, and we wish to learn from those past experiences and carry

that knowledge into the future. We seek to build an organization that is responsive
to present needs in the basin and lay the foundation for future mutual trust and

cooperation in the wise management of the basin's water resources.

Sincerely,

George L.
