Nevada <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Morrill <br />at 8:45 A.M., November 28, 1978 in the Plateau Room of <br />the Showboat Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada. Twenty seven <br />members and guests were present. <br /> <br />The minutes of the 78-2 meeting were approved as <br />circulated. <br /> <br />Professor Sol Resnick reported on the activities of <br />the Consortium of Water Institutes and Centers. Professor <br />Resnick summarized the new federal legislation and how it <br />affects the duties, responsibilities and finances of the <br />Water Institutes and Centers. He also reported on current <br />reseach projects being carried out by the Consortium. <br /> <br />Dr. J. Herbert Snyder gave a report on the anti- <br />transpirants study. The study has been completed and <br />final reports are available from the University of <br />California Center at Davis. Dr. Snyder will distribute <br />copies to members of the P.S.I.A.C. <br /> <br />Dr. Norman A. Evans reported on the sediment versus <br />salt load study being conducted at two locations, one in <br />Utah and one in Colorado. The various chemical and physi- <br />cal changes and relationships are being examined. The <br />study is scheduled for ,completion this fiscal year. <br /> <br />The Four Corners stUdy concerning public and <br />political opinions of ~atural resource development was <br />reported on by Professor Resnick. This study has been <br />completed. <br /> <br />Professor Resnick and Dr. Norman Evans summarized <br />progress to date on the lawn water requirement and <br />transpiration study. Several grass species with varied <br />water and fertilizer levels, along with actual water <br />applications versus ideal water requirements are being <br />studied. <br /> <br />The Lower Colorado River Information Program was <br />described by Dr. Nate Cooper. The program has been <br />successful and will be continued for at least one more <br />year. A publication is available from the University of <br />Nevada. <br /> <br />c-4 <br />
