1-3

to determine the most advantageous and cost effective projects in

,,-.

future selection of prOjects in which to participate financially.

With this thought in mind an attempt has been made to present water

,.'.
-.-:"

quality related problems of the counties, cities, towns and dis-

tr
g
~
~
~;
t
,
~
~
1
1

tricts of the Basin.

The report crystallizes the need to either assure proper and

adequate waste water treatment or limit future development. In our

sparsely populated area the problems are relatively easily identi-

fied. Solutions to the problems may require new approaches, but

solutions are available and should be applied at an early date to

preclude magnification of the problems and of the expense that may

be incurred in their solution.

It is interesting to note that this study presents a relatively

new concept in land use; that is the limited ability of the natural

streams to support development which discharges water borne wastes.

This ability may not only limit development, it may well force the

people of the area to select the type and extent of development

desirable or acceptable. The desirability of regionalization of

future waste water treatment plants becomes evident as does the im-

provement and upgrading of eXisting plants.

This report emphasizes the need for long range planning and

~ ~
, ',"

r"'" :")
i'.Jb
