I-I

SECTION I
INTRODUCTION

It is the expressed desire of the sponsors of this study that

it should be accomplished for the purpose of initiating feasible

logues existing information. Those who have been involved in the

action programs rather than result in a report that routinely cata-

~

study have gone to considerable effort to produce a report which

will present information and Supporting data for the solution of

present and future water quality problems in the San Luis Valley.

1
~

The water sampling period extended from June 1973 to June 1974.

Early in the sampling period specific problem areas were identified

and emphasis was placed on gathering as much detailed information

in these areas as time would permit. This assured that maximum

effort would be spent where it was most needed. Sufficient, but

not excessive, time was spent in other areas to gather information

ity problems of the San Luis Valley.

necessary to present the Overall situation in regard to water qual-

ticable, in the format of the work outline which accompanied and

The accompanying report has been developed, as nearly as prac-

was made a part of the contract for this study. In accordance with

instructions from the Colorado Department of Health, Waste Water Dis-

charge Standards in effect at the time the contract was signed were

used throughout the report.

r-
Ll'

~..- ~
,'~~
