Potential included downstream flooding: <br /> <br />The project would have a beneficial affect on downstream <br /> <br />flooding, reducing flood damages by an annual average of <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />$50,000. Existing dikes at the town of Dolores would be <br /> <br />raised to ensure that McPhee Reservoir would not cause <br /> <br />any flooding problems. <br /> <br />j. Cultural, historic, and archaeological resources: <br /> <br />(1) Type-(same as l.j.(l)). <br /> <br />(2) Extent - 156 sites would be excavated or tested <br /> <br />(3) On Federal Register - not applicable. <br /> <br />(4) Proposed for Federal Register: As part of the <br /> <br />project archaeological mitigation program, 15,000 <br /> <br />acres associated with McPhee Reservoir would be <br /> <br />nominated as an archaeological district. <br /> <br />(5) State register: not applicable. <br /> <br />k, Parks, wilderness areas, wild and/or scenic rivers: <br /> <br />The Departments of Agriculture and the Interior and the <br /> <br />State of Colorado, in recommendating part of the Dolores <br /> <br />River for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic River <br /> <br />System, stated that the Dolores Project would be compatible <br /> <br />with this designation. They also estimated that the project <br /> <br />would enhance the wild, scenic, and recreational qualities <br /> <br />of the river downstream from McPhee Dam, Although the <br /> <br />project would reduce the high spring runoff of the river, <br />
