<br />Annual municipal and industrial supplies of 6,200 acre-feet for <br /> <br />the city of Cortez and 1,000 acre-feet for the cummunity of Towaoc would <br /> <br />be stored in McPhee Reservoir and diverted through the Dolores Tunnel and <br /> <br />Canal, The buried Cortez-Towaoc Pipeline would receive this water from <br /> <br />the canal and convey it for 7.2 miles to a Cortez turnout and an <br /> <br />additional 12.3 miles to Towa~. Supplies of 600 acre-feet for the town <br /> <br />of Dove Creek and 900 acre-feet for nearby rural areas would be conveyed <br /> <br />in the Dove Creek Canal to Monument Creek Reservoir, where it would be <br /> <br />re-regulated for use. The water users in the project area would be <br /> <br />responsible for any required treatment and distribution facilities. <br /> <br />Recreational facilities would be provided at lkPhee and Monument <br /> <br />Creek ReservoirS and along the Dolores River for about 105 miles down- <br /> <br />stream from McPhee Reservoir, These facilities would accomodate boating, <br /> <br />swimming, water skiing, picnicking, camping, fishing, and hunting. <br /> <br />A project water supply of 25,400 acre-feet annually would be stored <br /> <br />in McPhee Reservoir and released to create an improved stream fishery <br /> <br />in the river, and streamside easements would be acquired for public <br /> <br />access. An additional 1,600 acre-feet would be stored for future fish <br /> <br />and wildlife purposes. Fisheries would be provided at McPhee and ~funument <br /> <br />Creek Reservoirs and also at Dawson Draw Reservoir, which would be con- <br /> <br />structed specifically for fish and wildlife. Land would be acquired and <br /> <br />developed as wildlife management areas at Monument Creek and Dawson Draw <br /> <br />Reservoirs, Additional wildlife habitat would be provided by selectively <br /> <br />seeding the rights-of-way along project lands to provide cover and food <br /> <br />for upland game. <br />
