<br />Colorado River Recovery Program <br />Annual Repon-Project 9f <br /> <br />native fish conservation, nonnative fish control, and endangered fishes recovery <br />options . <br /> <br />Done. Concurrent with the Fish and Wildlife Service process, CDOW has <br />established a working relationship with the Yampa River Basin Partnership (YRBP) <br />as a primary communications contact for the development of the basin-wide, <br />aquatic wildlife management plan. The YRBP is comprised of representatives of <br />a wide range of local business, resource, governmental. and private interests that <br />have agreed to work together to resolve development and resource issues. After <br />two meetings with the YRBP. in which the nature, goals and process for <br />development of a basin plan was discussed. a task group from the YRBP was <br />designated to work with CDOW to develop the plan. The task group was charged <br />with communicating the basic features of the draft plan and seeking input from <br />local constituents for discussion during plan drafting. Including the project <br />coordinator, representatives from the Nature Conservancy (Carpenter Ranch), <br />Yampa Valley Bassmasters. Yampa Valley Flyfishing Federation, Trout Unlimited, <br />U.S. Forest Service, RouJt County Department oj Environmental Health, Colorado <br />Stare Parks (Stagecoach Reservoir), and a private angler panicipated on the task <br />group. Communication has occurred primarily through e-mail, fax.. and three <br />group working sessions at Craig, Colorado. <br /> <br />4. Provide routine print media coverage on fishery management and conservation <br />issues in Yampa River valley. <br /> <br />No activity. Media coverage is anticipated for Task 6 below. <br /> <br />5. Place similar articles in Colorado Outdoors in spring and summer issues. <br /> <br />Done. See attached aniclesfrom Colorado Outdoors. <br /> <br />6. Conduct 2 or more Angler Roundtable forums in Craig in FY 1997 to present and <br />receive input on draft Yampa Basin Aquatic Wildlife Management Plan. <br /> <br />Pending. While this task was scheduled for completion by mid-December, the task <br />group recommended it be postponed until January to improve panicipation. It is <br />anticipated that theseJorums will be conducted by January 1998, and consist oj one <br />angler roundtable and public meetings in Steamboat and Craig, Colorado. <br /> <br />VII. Recommendations: Proceed with Task 6 as scheduled. <br /> <br />3 <br />
