Approximately 80% <br />of the prime contract has been completed, and the contractor expects <br />to finish concrete and earthwork operations, except for the power- <br />plant, by late fall. He hopes to complete the powerplant by Christ- <br />mas. <br /> <br />About 24% of the work has been completed on the Morrow <br />Point Dam of the CURECANTI UNIT. The excavation has been completed <br />in the switchyard area and the powerplant access tunnel. Open-cut <br />excavation for the powerplant, including the tailraces and keyways <br />for the dam, is progressing and the contractor has begun to exca- <br />vate the underground powerplant chamber. <br /> <br />The H. E. Lowdermilk Company, Englewood, Colorado, sub- <br />mitted a low bid of $936,269 for construction of the difficult 6~- <br />mile access road to the Crystal damsite of the CURECANTI UNIT. The <br />contract has been awarded and the Lowdermilk Company has commenced <br />work. <br /> <br />On the SILT PROJECT, general progress has accelerated. <br />The Rifle Gap Dam contractor's efforts have been concentrated on <br />cutoff trench excavation and highway construction. State Highway <br />325 and a county road will be relocated to take traffic out of the <br />construction area at the bottom of the gap. The state highway will <br />cross the crest of the dam. <br /> <br />Award of contract has been made for construction of the <br />silt Pump Canal which will convey irrigation water to lands on the <br />lower portion of Harvey Mesa. A low bid of $308,000 was submitted <br />for reconstruction of about 6 miles of the existing Davie Ditch to <br />provide a full water supply for project lands on Davie Mesa. <br /> <br />Feasibility Investiqations and Reports <br /> <br />The ANIMAS-LA PLATA PROJECT feasibility report was trans- <br />mitted to the Bureau of the Budget on April 10, 1964, to obtain <br />views of that agency relative to submittal of the report to Congress. <br /> <br />;,l",,;;~ <br />
