Cooperative Activities -- Federal and State -- CRSP

During the quarter personnel have been engaged in investigations author-
ized under the Section 8 program of the Colorado River Storage Project
Act. These have included evaluations of the fishery on theUintah and
Ouray Indian Reservation relative to the Central Utah Project and the
Green River fishery study being conducted by the Fishery Cooperative
Unit at the Utah StateUnivers ity, Logan, Utah. Fishery management
investigations under Section 8 contracts with the States are beingmoni-
tored by way of inspections by personnel so des ignated from the Branch
of Fishery Management Services. These include programs on Flaming
Gorge, Navajo Reservoir, and Lake Powell.

The aerial fish stocking of Lake Powell, above Glen Canyon Dam, was
accomplished on schedule with only minimal loss of fingerlings, as
reported by on-site biologists. With the exception of bad weather which
prevented one air drop, the program was carried out without mishap.
Nearly 3 million rainbow trout were planted under this program.

Representatives of the BSF&W, Forest Service, Utah State Department
of Fish and Game, Wy.oming Game and Fish Commiss ion, Flaming Gorge
Recreation Area, and Upper Colorado River Commiss ion met in the Bureau
of Reclamation's regional office in Salt Lake City.at Reclamation's request.
The meeting was held to -acquaint the interested agencies with the opera-
tionplan for the CRSP reservoirs, with special reference to Flaming
'Gorgeand Seedskadee reservoirs and also to provide .an opportunity for
the agencies to explain their specific needs with respect to reservoir oper-
ation.

BSF&W personnel met with representatives of the Bureau of Indian Affairs
in Phoenix to discuss provision of fishing lakes on Indian lands as part of
the Bonneville Unit, Central Utah Project (BR). It was agreed at the
meeting that such lakes should be recommended for construction under
Section 8 of the Colorado River Storage Project Act of April 11, 1956.

Cooperative Activities -- Federal and State

The newly established Pesticide Surveillance Office, located at Fort Collins,
Colorado, has begun an intens ive program of field surve illances of pest icides
