Development of Recreation Day Value Systems Associated with National <br />Economic Development Procedures <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The new PIS, NED Manual requires specific procedures for setting Recreation <br />Day Values, In the past, most agencies have used several methods of <br />determining a value for "General" and "Specialized" recreation activities, <br />The WRC has felt that other methods would give a better measure of true <br />recreation day values, This subject needs in-depth discussion aJll)ng the <br />state recreation planning agencies and federal water resource to prepare <br />recommendations to the WRC for the PSIAC area. This can only be done by <br />,interaction and agreement from the state and federal recreation agencies. <br /> <br />3, Presentation of Regional Recreation Demand Models <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the present time, most federal agencies have been using several <br />different methods of determining Recreation Demand for Water Resource <br />Planning. These include site specific use studies, similar project and <br />State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plans. The new procedures indicate <br />a preference for development and use of a Regional Demand Model. The <br />only Regional Demand Model presently developed is a recent research work <br />by the Environmental Protection Agency's. Research Laboriltory, Corvallis, <br />Oregon~ Mr. Ronald Sutherland, the researcher, was available to make a' <br />presentation at.the meeting, Mr, Sears, Corps of Engineers, discussed the <br />use of the State Outdoor Recreation Plan Regional Demand Models, <br /> <br />4. Show and tell session associated with Environmental Assessment/Impact <br />Statement for MX Missile System <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The proposed MX Military Missile System encompasses large land areas in <br />Utah, Nevada, and other adjacent states. The large area includes many <br />varied recreation areas either existing or potential in scope. In <br />addition to the required resources necessary for the military installation, <br />it will also require larqe amounts of water for domestic and recreational <br />'uses. Mr. Sears, Corps of Engineers. served on the team preparing the <br />environmental assessment, He shQwed slides and answered some questions <br />on the impacts on recreation and wildlife resources and opportunities, <br /> <br />B-15 <br />
