Two of the plans simu-
late Western Oi vision System operations with extremely high or extremely low
water supply conditions. Reservoir int10ws e1uring 1972 have a 1-in-10 chance
ofhoing'less than tho reasonable minimum anda l-in-IOchaIH';'" of being greater
than the reasonable maximum. Therefore, actua] operations during 1972 have an
S-in-l0 chance of falling within the limits of the two cxtreme plans. Planned
roscn'oir operations are showngraphicCllly on Exhibits 1-11. Anticipateelproject
water deliveries are shown graphically on Exhibit 12,

!.;~~;:;\
",5.:';:--.)'
".';..-

The three plans are intended to provide the means anel t1exibility for systematic
change from the most probable plan should reasonable minimum or reasonable
maximum runoff conditions develop. Constantly changing water supplies, irri-
gation reqLlirements, power loads, and maintenance outages will also require
many adjustments. The plan of operation includes provision for all planned.
outages of system facil\ties for maintenance, but will be adjusted as required by.
unforeseen conditions or problems.

Water supply forecasts for the Western Division System will commence on
February 1, 1972, and continue the first of each succeeding month through
July 1, 1972. Subsequent plans of operation for the system will be based upon
forecasted water supply conditions.

Plan of Operation for the October-January Period

The three plans of operation for the October-January period are similar under
all conditions of inDow. During this period, planned routine maintenance on all
system features can be accomplished without special operations. Total Western
Division System storage at the end of Water Year 1971 was 148 percent of the
recent 10-year average and 10 percent above last year.

Green Mountain

Green Mountain Reservoir storage at the beginning of Water Year 1972 was
142,000 acre-feet which was above normal. The cities of Denver and Colorado
Springs would not store or divert Blue River water during the October-January

22

t~~;/t
~f.:;;.~.':.~:'
:}..:""---.~
~

~~~
~J:(j~:~
;:.;.
