CURRENT PROPOSALS <br /> <br />The current proposals include an additional 700,000 acre-feet of <br />depletion~ of which 250,000 acre-feet would be for municipal and in- <br />dustrial uses and the balance for irrigation projects. The irrigation <br />projects located mostly in Colorado would add another 140,000 acres of <br />new land to the present irrigated acreage and, although the overall eco- <br />nomic impact has not been assessed, the effect would be similar to the <br />results obtained from other projects in the Upper Colorado River Basin. <br /> <br />The municipal and industrial uses include 102,000 acre-feet to <br />supply a coal-burning electric plant on the shores of Lake Powell, some <br />transbasin diversion~ and some inbasin uses. The timing of these devel- <br />opments is uncertain but the majority should be in operation by 1990. <br />
