001033

.

.

Contracts for firm power now exceed 850,000 kilowatts in the summer

BeaBon and 625,000 kilowattB in the winter season, Revenues are develop-

ing generally as forecast in the latest Average Rates and Repayment Study

and on June 1 totaled $13,689,489.
Surplus energy has been available and marketed at 3 mills per kilowatt-

hour during most of this summer. However, the sale of surplus energy is

not expected to continue beyond early fall, and future sales will be depend-

ent on water conditions,

Because of the minimum water runoff this spring, we have taken another

look at our future marketing plans so that contracting for firm power

does not get ahead of available generation in the event of a series of

low water years.

Both Flaming Gorge and Glen Canyon are fully operational and per-

forming satisfactorily. Blue Mesa is expected to be on the line by

March 1967 and Fontenelle by April 1968.

The Mont, rose Operation Center is now completed and in operation as

control center for the generation and transmission of all Storage Proj-

ect power,

A system shakeup resulted June 8, 1966, from a misoperation of a

transformer relay at the Pinnacle Peak substation. Although~widespread

in its effects, little inconvenience resulted to customers of the Bureau

and the interconnected utilities. The Rocky Mountain Power Pool is

bringing about complete cooperation between the utilities and effect of

future equipment misoperation and power outages will be minor.

With the cooperation of the Bureau, the City of Gunnison is install-

ing a 5,000-kYa standby transformer at the Bureau's Gunnison substation

3
