'rhe project area <br /> <br />then does not constitute a unit of environment that is either scarce <br /> <br />or unique. <br /> <br />The Narrows Unit will have a favorable impact on the natural <br /> <br />environment and economy throughout the South Platte River system within <br /> <br />and downstream from the project area. Beneficial impacts would include <br /> <br />creation of a.new reservoir having a water surface area of approximately <br /> <br />15,000 acres; establishment of a new reservoir fishery; conversion of <br /> <br />lands as a \(Ti1dlife management unit to mUi.gate loss and damages to <br /> <br />the fish and \lildlife l'esourees and to enhance the project for upland <br /> <br />game and \wterfO\(T1; stabilization of a 2,500-acre offstream reservoir <br /> <br />cnviro~ent specifically' to maximize the benefits therefrom for fish <br />and wildlife and recreation purposes. <br /> <br />Maintenance of both \(Tarm and cold water fisheries and fish <br /> <br />population by provision of a hatchery and rearing unit. <br /> <br />The Unit \-lOu1d provide a much-needed .\Tater-oriented recreation <br /> <br />outlet for this region of Colorado. <br /> <br />No dOHnstrcam water quality effects are anticipated which would <br /> <br />.interfere' "ith present or proposed beneficial uses of mIter from the <br /> <br />'9 <br />
