~ Point-of-Interest: UTE MOUNTAIN UTE LAND TO BE IRRIGATED

Lying "est and south from this point is the Ute ~Iountain Ute Indian
land to be brought under cultivation with the project. No marked stop is
located, ,but land typical of that to be irrigaten can be seen in the dis-
tance. Approximately 11,980 acres of land would be sprinkler irrigated
"ith water from the DRY SIDE CANAL by means of buried pipe laterals. One
of the irrigation pumping plants (see Point-of~lnterest: Red Mesa Pumping
Plant above) would 'be located at the west end of the canal.

Approximately 6,000 acre-feet of municipal and industrial water for use
the Ute Mountain Indian Reservation would also b~ provided near the west
of the canal.

~ Point-of-Interest: LA PLATA DIVERSION DAM SITE

To the west is the approximate location of the proposed ,LA PLATA DIVER-
SION DMl, which would span the river about 1.5 miles downstream from Breen
to divert La Plata River flow, by gravity, into the DRY SIDE CANAL.

Water would be turned out of the canal to flow into the La Plata River
when needed to meet downstream needs and also to supply 1,000 acre-feet of
municipal and industrial water to rural users in this area.

Approximately at this location a low head diversion dam would be beilt
spanning the La Plata River to divert water from the river into SOUTHERN UTE
INLET CANAL for conveyance to SOUTHERN UTE RESERVOIR.

9.5 feet high
100 feet wide
