West Slope Collection System

The project imports began on May 10 and ended on September 18. The
total west slope diversion in water year 1983, as measured at Charles H.
Boustead Tunnel outlet by the Colorado Division of Water Resources, was
87,670 acre-feet (see table 2). An exchange with Twin Lakes Reservoir and
Canal Company was implemented whereby the project would bypass water at the
Hunter Creek system in exchange for the Twin Lakes Reservoir and Canal
Company, bringing an amount equal to the bypass into Twin Lakes for the
project. The total exchange amounted to 3,120 acre-feet, giving a total
project import of 90,790 acre-feet for water year 1983. The April 1 fore-
casted import was for 68,860 acre-feet.

The following minimum bypass requirements were used during the 1983
operation:

Oiversion Point

Minimum Bypass
Requirement
(ft3/s)

12
6
3
o
o
3
1
1
o
2
12
5
4
2
1
o

.

Fryingpan River
Sou th Fork
Chapman Gulch
Sawyer Lake Creek
lily Pad Creek
Ivanhoe Creek
Middle Cunningham Creek
North Cunningham Creek
South Cunningham Creek
Mormon Creek
Hunter Creek
Midway Creek
No Name Creek
Carter Creek
North Fork Creek
Granite Creek

In addition to the mlnlmum bypass requirements at each diversion draining
into the Fryingpan River, a minimum flow requirement must be met at the
Fryingpan River at Thomasville river gaging station as specified in the
operating principles. This minimum requirement for the normal diversion
season is as follows: April - 100 ft3/s, May - 150 ft3/s, June - 200 ft3/s,
July - 100 ft3/s, and August - 75 ft3/s or the natural flow, whichever is
less,

.

3
