ELECTRICAL CONOUIT SYSTEMS <br /> <br />a. General.- The contractor shall furnish and install <br />all materials for the complete electrical conduit <br />systems which shall include the embedded, buried, <br />and exposed conduit systems. The required conduit <br />systems are indicated on the drawings. However, the <br />contractor shall complete the conduit system design <br />including locating all terminations and increasing <br />conduit sizes if necessary to suit equipment <br />furnished. "As-built" conduit drawings shall be <br />furnished. <br /> <br />The electrical conduit system for the south shore <br />marina is provided for under Paragraphs 214 <br />through 218. <br /> <br />Conduit accessorias shall include: <br /> <br />(11 All conduit fittings such as connectors, <br />couplings, Erickson couplings, nipples, chase <br />nipples, reducers, bushed elbows, short elbows, <br />pipe plugs, locknuts, bond nuts, bushin9s, and all <br />other similar type fittings required to com plate <br />the electrical conduit systems. <br /> <br />(2) Split or sliding pipe sl.eves. <br /> <br />(3) Expansion couplings except O.Z. Type <br />"RDX" expansion couplings. <br /> <br />(4) Cast metal conduit outlet bodies, boxes, and <br />extensions. <br /> <br />(51 Sheet metal outlet boxes and extensions <br />except fabricated sheet steel boxes and cabinets <br />and embedded sheet steel pull boxes. <br /> <br />(6) Conduit fittings to support vertical riser <br />cable. <br /> <br />Conduit accessories shall also include materials for <br />sealing the ends of conduits terminating at outdoor <br />boxes, panelboards, or cabinets; hanger supports; <br />bracket supports and clamps, complete with bolts, <br />washers, and nuts; and all other devices reqUired to <br />complete the electrical conduit systems and to <br />fasten, clamp, attach, and support each conduit in <br />place. <br /> <br />The required conduit systems are indicated on <br /> <br />SPECIFICATIONS NO. ANSI C80.1 zinc coated. <br /> <br />(2) Flexible metal conduit.-WW.C-566b for <br />indoor use only. For outdoor use liquidtight-type <br />flexible metal conduit. <br /> <br />(3) Flexible metal conduit (for use on lighting, <br />h.ating, and ventilating systems)'-Shall be <br />galvanized steel core with a copper bonding <br />conductor between the spiral segments and with <br />an extruded synthetic jacket overall to insure a <br />watertight conduit. Conduit shall be American <br />8rass "Sealtite" Type UA or equal with <br />9rounding.type finings approved for this tYpe of <br />flexible conduit. <br /> <br />(41 Plastic.coated conduit.-Shall be rigid steel <br />conduit WW-C-581d, zinc coated, with <br />factory-applied bonded plastic compound <br />protective coat at least 0.04 inch thick and <br />placed uniformly around the conduit and equal <br />to Occidental Coating Company, Canoga Park, <br />California, Occal-40; Plastic Applicators, <br />Houston, Texas, KorKap; Republic Steel <br />GALVITE; or Robroy Industries PLASTI-BONO <br />Elbows, fittings, couplings, hangers, and other <br />accessories shall have an equal bonded coating <br />Fittings and couplings shall be sleeved to provide <br />a watertight joint. <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />(5) Metal conduit fittings.-W-F-406b and <br />W.F-408b. <br /> <br />(6) Protective varnish.-Protective varnish shall <br />conform to General Electric Company "Glyptal" <br />No. 1201-8, Jones Oabney Company No. 5663, <br />Westinghouse Electric Corporation No. 8.6.614, <br />Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Company, <br />Scotchkote, or equal. <br /> <br />(7) Outlet bodies.-W.C.586a, <br />malleable iron, or cast aluminum, <br />embedded conduit systems. <br /> <br />cast iron, <br />Class 1 for <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />144 <br />
