Young indicated that thlB re-
search is of critical interest to all water users in the State. particularly with the recent
decision by the Supreme Court in the Fellhauer Case. ChriBty said that if existing laws
had been adequately administered and enforced, the State might not be faced with the
problems which brought about the proposed legislation. Milenski felt that some of the
Engineering reports, and Borne of the legislative proposals have grave errors in them.
and these must be brought to the attention of the Legislature in order that the problem
might not be aggravated. Nichols suggested that because of the Statewide publicity in
public hearings. there is a greater awareness of the problem. and the State Legislature
will have a major task to analyze all of the material and come up with something that
will meet wiU1 the approval of the majority of the water users around the State. The
Board recommended that the Manager follow the Legislative hearings very closety, and
issue regular reports to the Board. along with reproducing all Legislative material tor
distribution to the Board and other interested citizens in the Arkansas Valley.

~'K

....
"

..;

'.>

'::

NEXT BOARD MEETING:

j
,.-..

~

..,;

PreBident Nichols advised that the Colorado Water Congress has set its Annual meet-
ing to be held in Denver on ThurBday, January 20, which is the same day and time as
the regular monthly Board of Directors meeting of the Southeastern Colorado Water
.Conservancy District.
