Canal started a Heredith exohange at 6.All 7/29. The
original intent \'/as.t6 start the exohlmge simultaneously with
the arri..ro.l of 75 s.f. of reservoir water from Twin. Lakes.
Through a misunderstanding the reservoir water. 83.5 s.f.. was
turned out at Twin Lakes at 12N 7/28 instead of 9.A1I 7/27. As
originall,Y planned the diversi on of the Colo. Canal beginning
at 6AM 7/29. was.to consist of 175 s.f. of lleredith exchange
water and 75 s. f. of Twin Lakes mter. Tlll error was dis-
covered before time to turn the Colo. Canal in and the entire
head. 250 s.f.. turned in. Vill.s Meredith water and 239 s.f. ms
turned out of Lake tieredith at 12M 7/29 to oompeusate for the
250 s.f. of river water being diverted by tlll Colo. Canal from
the river at Boone.

The 75 s.f. from Twin. Lakes arrived at the Colo. Canal ooad-
gate at l2H 7/30. at whioh time this reservoir head of 75 s. f.
replaoed 75 s.f. of too exchs.n.ge water. This left 175 s.f. of
exohange water in the co.nal. Too outflow from Lake Meredith
was cut to 169 s.f. at 6PM 7/31.

Too exchs.n.ge betV<<len lake Meredith and the river was oontinue d
on this basis until 7PM 7/31. at which time the exohange between
Lake Meredith and the river was inoreased by 100 s.f.. making a
total of 275 s.f. of Heredith water and 75 s.f. of Twin Lakes
water being diverted by too Colo. Canal.

At 6PM 8/2 Twin Lams turned out an additional 100 s.f. for the
Colo. Canal. It was anticipated that the river would soon
reach a stage which would make it impossible to continue an ex-
change of 275 s.f. with Lake Heredith. and this 100 s.f. from
Twin Lakes was turned out to replaoe 100 s.f. of this exohange
Vill.ter.

However, the river dropped so rapidly in 8/2 and 8/3. that this
head of 100 s.f. had not reached the Colo. Canal before it was
necessary to deorease the amount of the Heredith exohange.
