Maintaining the River at La Junt9.1

The overdiversion of the Ft. Lyon and the consequent shortage
to the Amity oe.n probably be attributed to the difficulty of
maintaining the river to Distri ot i'l67.

The passing arder fi"C1ll the Division EngineE!r to Mr. Ilheeler in
foroe during this period was - '~ass 400 s.f, from District #17
to Distriot '/~7.1t

The hour at the La Junta stati ClD, whi ch 0 orresponds to the hour
whioh marks the beginniXlJ!; of the peri cd during whioh the Junity
was . horted was I lOAI1 8/2.

The A.V.D.A. report for 8/2 indioates G.B. 3~40 - 320 s.f. for
6A!1 8/2. The A.V.D.A. report for 8/2 also reports the following
information oonoerning inflow frcn the Purgatoire - 840 s.f. at
Nina Nile Dsm at 8PM 8/1, and 343 s.f. at 6AM 8/2. If the above
reports W'lre oorreot it appears that the 400 s.f. order wa.s being
Mlply filled in prospeot. It seems that this total (663 .d.)
fioom these two sources should have been adequate. It is under-
standable, why with thl.s much water in prospeot, that Hr.
Hheeler did not order more past La Junta an 8/2.
