<br />I <br /> <br />'l..:,-:'<-"'~) <br /> <br />. :' <br /> <br />"~-') <br /> <br />Revised April 20, 1967 <br /> <br />UIHTED STATES <br />DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR <br />BUREAU OF RECLAMATION <br /> <br />Interim Operating Rules <br />Navajo Reservoir <br />Navajo Unit <br />Colorado River Storage Project <br /> <br />The following interim rules will govern the operation of the Navajo Dam <br /> <br />and Reservoir constructed by the Bureau of Reclamation on the San Juan <br /> <br />River in northwestern New Mexico. These rules will be changed from time <br /> <br />to time by the Bureau of Reclamation as operating experience dictates, <br /> <br />but, in general, shall remain in effect until water deliveries for the <br /> <br />Navajo Indian Irrigation Project or other demands on the reserVoir <br /> <br />require permanent operating rules. <br /> <br />1. Navajo Dam shall be operated by the United States as a storage <br /> <br />unit of the Colorado River Storage project subject to the terms <br /> <br />of the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact, the Colorado River <br /> <br />Compact, the Colorado River Storage Project Authorizing Act of <br /> <br />April 11 1956 (70 Stat. 105), and the Act of June 13, 1962 <br /> <br /> <br />(76 Stat. 96), authorizing the San Juan-Chama and Navajo <br /> <br />Indian Irrigation Projects. <br /> <br />2. Pending the publication of final Flood Control Regulations for <br /> <br />NavajO Reservoir in the Federal Register and the issuing of a <br /> <br />Reservoir Regulation Manual for Flood Control based thereon, <br /> <br />the reservoir will be operated for flood control in accordance <br /> <br />with the latest Interim Draft of the Flood Control Regulations <br /> <br />and Diagram. Operating under these regulations, the reservoir <br /> <br />will not be drawn below elevation 5,990 ~ee~ for, flood control. <br />
