002752

~ RECOMMENDATIONS

It is recommended that additional Floodway management
legislation be enacted to provide for the following in order
to establish and maintain an effective Floodway. With
respect to federal legislation, the Task Force recommends
that consideration should be given to the development of a
follow-up omnibus Floodway bill to provide for the
recommended federal actions and necessary appropriations.

with respect to drafting such a bill, it is recommended
that the Congress request that all involved federal agencies
confirm or identify needed authorizations and appropriations
to carry out the recommendations. Due to the diversity of
involved federal agencies, such legislation may require
referral to numerous Congressional committees. In order to
avoid an overly cumbersome legislative process, in some
cases, it may be appropriate to seek action through
appropriation bills and accompanying Committee reports.

A.
