ISSUE <br /> <br />The timely and economic implementation of the Floodway <br />and its provisions into the National Flood Insurance Program. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />In order for eligible entities to participate in the <br />National Flood Insurance Program, the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEMA) must formally establish floodway <br />boundaries and risk premium rate zones based on detailed base D~ <br />flood and risk studies. Further, local entities seeking <br />participation in the program must adopt flood plain <br />management regulations consistent with federal criteria <br />established by FEMA. <br /> <br />With respect to the Colorado River Floodway, the <br />Floodway maps developed pursuant to Section 5 of the Colorado <br />River Floodway Protection Act .shall be considered a standard <br />map to be adhered to by all agencies and shall have the same <br /> <br />III-2 <br />
