Determine management strategies which are currently
in use and those which CQuld be applied.
b. Define biotic and abiotic characteristics of forest
and rangeland ecosystems; relate these to components
of multi-objectives.
c. Determine which ecosystem characteristics need to be
inventoried.
d. Define response units on basis of homogeneity of
inventoried ecosystem characteristics and components
of multi-objectives.
e. Determine pre~ent and potential timber growth rates
by response units.
f. Determine costs and returns (budgets) for mana~e-
ment.
g. Tabulate ar~a of all response units. (FS will
determine acreages and wi 11 inventory all federal,
state, and private forest lands and forest range
lands.)
h. Analyze management strategies to determine input
and resource requirements such as:
I. Water use
2. Chemicals
3. Ferti 1 izer
4. Transportation and access
5.
