/

j.. Deve)~er's manual- "how the database conversion was performed", "how the

denved\t\lbles were produced".

8. List of data errors - rejected records.
L/ \

Guidelines

I) Communication

· Formal communication (written progress reports, evaluations) will be between Leah
Lewis and J ean Van Loan. Leah may involve other participants as she sees fit.
· Informal communication may occur between Jean and other involved parties.

2) Tools and Methods

I Informix is the State standard, and is the chosen database ofDWR, CWCB and the,
CROSS project. Jean will perform the conversion using Informix's 4GL, and
embedded SQL language.
l/ j>ata manipulation may be performed in dBASE prior to processing.
~ UNIX level routines/scripts may be used to prepare the data for loading into
working/temporary tables. \
.~ MS Access will be used as an aid in documentation, and reports.
1/ Top-down modular programming techniques will be used in 4GL.
:/ The conversion application, and derived table application will be designed to run as
automatically as possible. Meaning that a "delete and re-build" option will be
provided to process the revised data. . /'
~ Jean is responsible for her own Oxbow ONLINE development instance. /-Schema
changes require written approval from Leah Lewis. c/
l/' The Water Rights tables will be built in a stand alone database. This will avoid the
problem of serial number synchronization.

3) Tasks and Estimated Cost

TASK

Start-up Phase
Development and Production Phase
Documentation and Delivery Phase

$5,120.00
$38,912.00
$5,120.00

ESTIMATED COST

\~

The total compensation for this project will not exceed $50,000.00.

4) Data

· Some records will not be converted until they are corrected. A list of these records
must be compiled by Jean, and given to DWR for correction. This project will not
> wait until the data are corrected. Only records that are correct will be converted.

0230

2
