nOil945 NEBRASKA RESOURCES WImeR. 1997/pA Nebraska Resources Development Funds Obligated By Tom Pesek At its December 12. 1996. meeting, the Commission obligated $50,000 to the Lower Wood River! Upper Warm Slough Flood Control ProjectnearGrand Island. These funds will be available to the Central Platte NRD on a reimbursement basis for land rights acquisition. This obligation of slate funds followed passage of the Energy and Water appropriations Act lor Fiscal Year 1997 which included authorization and partial federal funds ($1,000,000) for the project. The Commission approved slate lunding assistance for this project in June 1995 when a Nebraska Resources Development Fund grant of up to $3,191,441.02, not to exceed against a 100.year lIoad event along the Wood Riverat Grand Island. Project features include channel work and accompanying levees along Wood River and Warm Slough west of Highway 281, a diversion structure east of Highway 281 and a new channel (floodway) toconveyflood flows to the Platte River. The project has an estimated cost 01 $10,182,900. The City of Grand Island, HallCounty, Merrick County, and the Central Platte NRD are also contributing toward +-- PI.ft.
