These funds <br />will be available to the Central Platte <br />NRD on a reimbursement basis for <br />land rights acquisition. This obligation <br />of slate funds followed passage of the <br />Energy and Water appropriations Act <br />lor Fiscal Year 1997 which included <br />authorization and partial federal funds <br />($1,000,000) for the project. <br />The Commission approved slate <br />lunding assistance for this project in <br />June 1995 when a Nebraska <br />Resources Development Fund grant <br />of up to $3,191,441.02, not to exceed <br /> <br />against a 100.year lIoad event along <br />the Wood Riverat Grand Island. Project <br />features include channel work and <br />accompanying levees along Wood <br />River and Warm Slough west of <br />Highway 281, a diversion <br />structure east of Highway <br />281 and a new channel <br />(floodway) toconveyflood <br />flows to the Platte River. <br />The project has an <br />estimated cost 01 <br />$10,182,900. The City of <br />Grand Island, HallCounty, <br />Merrick County, and the <br />Central Platte NRD are <br />also contributing toward <br />+-- PI.ft. Rlvw the non.federal cost. <br /> <br />60% of the total local cost was <br />provided.
