All filling were tight (TO), several joints open at surface (T2), but
tight within several inches. All weathering on joint surfaces was slight - minor discoloration
Note: this was very hard to determine - outcrop below high water line of river submerged
during spring runoff leaving film on rock outcrop surfaces from evaporating water. This also
complicated the moisture determination.

Last 5 joints taken from upper rock outcrop and did not cross tape in the general area.
Pin - planar Und - undulating jts - joints

3. Faulting and Shearing

a. A northeast trending fault (F-l) extends through the pumping plant area
juxtaposing the older Point Lookout Sandstone against the younger
Menefee Formation. The fault was encountered in drill holes DH-l 05,
DH-109, DH-IlO, and DH-118 and was observed in two outcrops, one
along the bank of the Animas River immediately west of the highway
bridge, and another located about 200 feet east of section A-A near drill
hole DH-119. The fault can be observed southwest of the pumping plant
near County Road 211, and continues southwest for approximately one-
half mile, Andesite dikes associated with the fault can be traced an
additional 2 miles although no offset caused by faulting is apparent.

Geology
00320 - 12
