001J~n

I

",

+>

~

~

the most important reason for the construotion of the

Boulder Dam, needed for the proteoticn of thousands' of

people, their homes, their property and their lives,

In addition to these practical things the recrea-

tional advantages must not be overlooked, and its proximity

to Mead Lake inoreases the recreational advantages of Mead

Lake and adds to the happiness of thousands of people who

might see fit to visit this region,

It is true that the map of the Hualapai Indian

Reservation shows that the dBJJ1 and resulting reservoir are

upon the reservation. A glanoe, however, at the map will

show at onoe that this fact should not in anywise interfere

with the applioation. Without a doubt in the world, the

Colorado River was ohosen as the northern boundary line of

the reservation for no other reason than it afforded an

almost impassable barrier from north to south and vice versa

and a line easy of ascertainment. We sul)mit the building of

the dam and the filling of the reservoir could not affect

the reservaticn exoept beneficially,

When all these things are considered and correctly

added we cannot but feel that the result obtained therefran

leads us to the )JeHef that not only should there be no

objection to our filing fran our sister states but that we

should find these sister states standing solidly with us in

19.
