~,

0006J9

to be served by the project was deleted from the area through a land sale'

development, and the owner of the remaining land did not purchase as

much project water as we had estimated in the plan. And, since construc-

tion costs have increased considerably this increment 1001<s quite shakey

economically. This, along with the environmental effect the canal will

have on the steep oidehill it traverses, makes justification of construc-

tion questionable.

Recreational facilities will be provided by the Forest Service

at the Silver Jack Reservoir. Flows for fish will be maintained in the

creek below the head of the Cimarron Canal.

Construction of Silver Jack Dam and Reservoir was initiated in

October 1966 and completed in the fall of 1971. Our present schedules

and fund programs provide for completion of construction on the remainder'

of the project in 3 years. except some drainage work that may be needed

in the future.

Storage of water in Silver Jack Reservoir was initiated in the

fall of 1970. Storage water has been rented to the Conservancy District

this year and last year. The district in turn has rented the available

water to the ranchers in the district.

.

2

i
n
I
f
I
,.
I
~
~

~
