<br />""1'1.'" <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />0005J8 <br /> <br />BOSTWICK PARK PROJECT <br /> <br />'Bostwick Park Project is in Montrose and Gunnison Counties <br /> <br />with the center of the project being about 12 miles east of Montrose. <br /> <br />The Bureau completed the Feasibility Report on the project <br /> <br />in January 1961. It was authorized as a participating project with <br /> <br />the Upper Colorado River Storage Project by Public Law 88-568, <br /> <br />September 2, 1964 (78 Stat. 852). We completed the Definite Plan Report <br /> <br />for the project in December 1965, and a repayment contract for the <br /> <br />project was executed with the Bostwick Park Water Conservancy District <br /> <br />onFlarch- 1:8-; '19'06; <br /> <br />Unused flows of Cimarron Creek, a tributary of the Gunnison <br /> <br />River, are being developed for irrigation, recreation, and sport fishery <br /> <br />enhancement. Storage regulation is provided by the Silver Jack'Reservoir <br /> <br />I <br />r- <br /> <br />recently on Cimarron Creek. Released storage water and usable natural <br /> <br />. flows are diverted from the creek into the existing Cimarron Canal. <br /> <br />Some project water is released to project lands along the canal but <br /> <br />most of it is distributed by the existing Vernal Mesa and Hairpin ditches <br /> <br />which head at the canal terminus. <br /> <br />A pipe.section of the Vernal Mesa ditch will be replaced this <br /> <br />fall and the Bostwick Lateral will be constructed later to convery project <br /> <br />water from the Vernal Mesa ditch to new lands that are above those <br /> <br />presently irrigated. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />We have some problems, however, concerning the advisability of <br /> <br />proceeding with construction of the Lytle Lateral.
