Interim evaluations and <br /> <br />progress reports on such on-going studies as west her modification, <br /> <br />the West Cosst Undersea Aqueduct, geothermal exploration, and stmilar <br /> <br />parallel study programs will be incorporated into the Western United <br />States Wster Plan. <br /> <br />Because of interagency basin planning activities, the activities of <br /> <br />the Ststes in developing State water plans, snd the interrelated <br /> <br />nature of the programs of several Federol agencies, the opportunity <br /> <br />f~r duplication and overlap of activities with the Westwide study <br /> <br />will be constantly present, A major objective of coordination will <br /> <br />be to eliminate duplication and overlap. This objective will be <br />accomplished by establishing a close working relationship with the <br />Water Resources Council. <br /> <br />During the course of study, infiormed interest groups, universities, <br /> <br />formal associations, and organized clubs will be requested to provide <br /> <br />counsel as to the adequacy of the study and pertinence of the results. <br /> <br />The Water Resources Council will be requested to assist in developing <br /> <br />workshops, seminars, public hearings, or other means to develop <br /> <br />effective dialogue with these groups. <br /> <br />As the study progresses and results become available, it is planned <br /> <br />that the Commissioner will appoint a board of consultants to <br /> <br />periodically review the program and the progress of the study and <br />advise him concerning general plans and procedures. <br /> <br />9 <br />
