Interim evaluations and

progress reports on such on-going studies as west her modification,

the West Cosst Undersea Aqueduct, geothermal exploration, and stmilar

parallel study programs will be incorporated into the Western United
States Wster Plan.

Because of interagency basin planning activities, the activities of

the Ststes in developing State water plans, snd the interrelated

nature of the programs of several Federol agencies, the opportunity

f~r duplication and overlap of activities with the Westwide study

will be constantly present, A major objective of coordination will

be to eliminate duplication and overlap. This objective will be
accomplished by establishing a close working relationship with the
Water Resources Council.

During the course of study, infiormed interest groups, universities,

formal associations, and organized clubs will be requested to provide

counsel as to the adequacy of the study and pertinence of the results.

The Water Resources Council will be requested to assist in developing

workshops, seminars, public hearings, or other means to develop

effective dialogue with these groups.

As the study progresses and results become available, it is planned

that the Commissioner will appoint a board of consultants to

periodically review the program and the progress of the study and
advise him concerning general plans and procedures.

9
