<br />-~~ <br /> <br />'I I. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />002488 <br /> <br />Conejos <br /> <br />Approximately 25.6 miles meet eligibility requirements <br /> <br />for "wild" river areas and 23.2 miles meet "recreational" river <br /> <br />area requirements. The recommendation was that they be so designated. <br />The Governor did endorse these recommendations. <br /> <br />Dolores <br /> <br />Approximately 140 miles of the Dolores was found eligible <br /> <br /> <br />for designation, and 46 miles were found ineligible. Of the 140 <br /> <br />eligible miles, 66 miles were recommended for "recreational" de- <br /> <br />signation, 41 miles as "scenic" and 33 miles as "wild". <br /> <br />The Governor did endorse this recommendation. <br /> <br />\. <br /> <br />Elk <br /> <br />~' <br />The Elk River from its source to t~e village of Clark, <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Colorado, about 35 miles, is eligible for desigriation as a National <br /> <br />Wi.ld and Scenic River. About 17 miles were recommended for "wild" <br /> <br />designation, 12 miles as "scenic", and 6 miles as "recreational". <br /> <br />The Governor did endorse' this recommendation. <br /> <br />Encampment <br /> <br />The 19~ miles of the Enc~mpment River, including the <br /> <br /> <br />Main and West Fork tribu~aries and headwaters from their SOurces to <br /> <br /> <br />the Colorado-Wyoming boundary,were recommended for designation as a <br /> <br />.: <br /> <br />"wild" r'iver. The entire study reach is on National Forest land' <br />and no private lands are involved. <br />The Governor did endorse' .this recommendation. <br /> <br />Green-Yampa <br /> <br />Both rivers were found er~gible for inclusion in the <br /> <br />. <br />National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.
