Privately <br />owned all-terrain vehicles should not be allowed on managed <br />land areas whenever threatened and endangered species are <br />present or there is potential for them to be on-site. <br /> <br />Uses of On-site Species <br /> <br />1. Waterfowl Hunting - Hunting of waterfowl, after the whooping <br />crane fall migration season, could be allowed according to <br />federal and state hunting regulations. Waterfowl hunters <br />should be educated about species of concern (e.g., trumpeter <br />swans and bald eagles) that could be encountered while <br />hunting on managed lands. <br /> <br />2. Archery Hunting - Hunting of deer and other legal game <br />animals could be allowed according to state hunting <br />regulations. No permanent stands or blinds would permitted <br />in order to maintain the natural integrity of the area. <br /> <br />3. Other Hunting (firearm) - Hunting with firearms should not <br />be allowed on managed lands whenever whooping cranes are <br />present or there is potential for them to be on-site. <br />Restricted hunts for animals such as deer (which can damage <br />the ecosystem if numbers are left unchecked) could be <br />permitted in December or January. <br /> <br />4. Fishing - Fishing should not be allowed on managed lands <br />whenever threatened and endangered species are present or <br />there is high potential for them to be on-site. <br /> <br />5. Edible Plant Harvesting - Morel gathering, berry picking, <br />etc., should not be allowed on managed lands whenever <br />threatened and endangered species are present or there is <br />high potential for them to be on-site. <br /> <br />6. Bird Viewing - Regulated bird watching could be allowed from <br />designated blinds when threatened and endangered species are <br />present or there is high potential for them to be on-site. <br />Bird watching could be allowed from designated paths <br />whenever threatened and endangered species are not present <br />or there is low potential for them to be on-site. <br /> <br />7. Photography - Photography could be allowed from designated <br />blinds whenever threatened and endangered species are <br />present or there is high potential for them to be on-site. <br />Photography could be allowed from designated paths and areas <br />whenever threatened and endangered species are not present <br />or there is low potential for them to be on-site. <br /> <br />5 <br />
