<br />on2132 <br /> <br />1./71. <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />On January 3, 1975, the President of the United States signed Public <br />Law 93-621 amending the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act (P.L. 90-542). <br />This amendment authorized studies of the Yampa and Green Rivers along <br />with 27 other streams. The interrelationship and proximity of the <br />Yampa and .Green Rivers resulted in a combined study of the two rivers <br />for reasons of efficiency in carrying out the legislative mandate. The <br />segments of the Yampa and Green Rivers studied are defined in <br />P.L. 93-621 as follows: <br /> <br />...Green River, Colorado: The entire segment within the State of <br />Colorado. <br /> <br />...Yampa River, Colorado: The segment within the boundaries of i <br />Dinosaur National Monument. !' <br />, <br /> <br />In addition, the Governors of Utah and Colorado requested that the' <br />Secretary of the Interior extend the study of the Green River to <br />include sections of the river in Utah between Flaming Gorge Dam and 'Ii <br />the southern boundary of Dinosaur National Monument. The Secretary of- <br />the Interior agreed to th~s request and the study was extended to include <br />the following segments: <br /> <br />...Green River, Utah: The segment between Flaming Gorge Dam and the <br />Utah-Colorado State line. <br /> <br />...Green River, Utah: The segment between the Colorado-Utah State line <br />and the southern boundary of Dinosaur National Monument. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Map 1 shows the segments of the Yampa and Green Rivers studied. <br /> <br />Findings <br /> <br />1. The Yampa River study segment (segment D on map 1) from the eastern <br />boundary of Dinosaur National Monument to the river's confluence <br />with the Green River at Echo Park, is eligible for inclusion in <br />the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. This 48-mi1e segment <br />of the Yampa River possesses outstandingly remarkable scenic, <br />recreational, geologic, and fish values. <br /> <br />2. The segment of the Green River from below Flaming Gorge Dam to the <br />Bureau of Land Management boat ramp at Indian Crossing (segment A <br />on map 1) is eligible for inclusion in the National Wild and <br />Scenic Rivers System. This l6-mile segment possesses outstandingly <br />remarkable recreational, scenic and fish values. <br />
