WHEREAS, Public Law 92-514, as ;;mended by Public Law 96-375, authorizes

the Secretary of the Interior, hereinafter referred to as the "Secretary, II,

to construct, opert1le, and maintain [he Clo012d RasLn Divison. Snn Luis

Valley. Project, Colorado, herejnafter ~e[errc.d to i;lS [he "projQct:ll; and

WHEREAS, Section 101 (b) of sai.d public law provides that: "Con::,lnJct:jun

Pruvided, That conscruction of each of the successive units or stages after

stage 1 of said project shall be undertakell olll_y witll tIle consellt of the

Colorado Water Conservation Board and [he Rio Gl-~llrle WRtcr COllservation

District

II; and

WHEREAS, the Secretary, acting through the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation,

desires to initiate the drilling of salvage well.s ~nd the acquisition of

land needed for such wells in stage 3 of the project in federal fiscal

year 1983 in order Chat such wells might be pun~ tested so that data can

be obtained for the ~ubsequent design of pumps and distribution pipes;

and

WHEREAS, all such wells \o1ill be capped after test pumping and not

placed into production until the Colorado Water COIlservation Board and

the Rio Grande Water Conservation District consent [0 the same.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Rio elande WSler Conserviltion
