ilil~r.o).
tJtilJO...O

2.3 Calibration Log
During the calibration process, a log of the changes made to the MODSIM prototype was
maintained. The following is a summary of the calibration log.

Date

Descriotion

12-14-94

.

Changed the system efficiencies for the Uncompahgre Project Canals from
0.6 (GUNMOD) to 0.45. This modification was made to better replicate
actual historic diversions as determined from the CRDSS database.

12- 28-94

.

Changed the procedure for freezing mOdel links after the natural flow
solution phase. No longer have a constraining upper bound on a natural flow
link during the storage allocation step. This enabled natural flow demands
to receive "free" reservoir releases resulting from flood and other
operational release targets.

. Relocated the GUNMOD inflows for the North Fork at nodes 21033 and
21035 to a location above Paonia Reservoir.

. Temporarily removed non-account reservoirs (Fairview and Cerro) from the
model to better analyze the delivery of Project 7 water from the Cimarron
Canal and the Gunnison Tunnel.

· Added demands to several links in the Fruitland Mesa area. These were
missing from earlier model versions.

· Tested Blue Mesa reservoir operations by using historic end-of-month
storage contents from U.S.G.S. Water Supply Papers as target storage
levels. Determined need to verify the monthly storage data provided by the
DNR and stored in the CROSS database.

· Modified the protocol for operation of Project 7 to first take Cimarron Canal
direct flow first, UVWUA storage in Blue Mesa (via the Gunnison Tunnel)
second, and storage in Cerro Reservoir last.

· MOdified linkages to insulate the UVWUA account in Blue Mesa Reservoir
and the M&I account in Ridgway from the operational releases specified by
target storage levels.

12-29-94

.

Tested alternative storage targets for Taylor Park Reservoir.

.

Filled in data gaps for unit evaporation rates for Taylor Park, Blue Mesa.
Ridgway and Paonia reservoirs for the period 1970 - 1990.

.

Tested alternative storage targets for Ridgway Reservoir by setting at
maximum storage level.

.

Added a new link on the North Fork of the Gunnison to check against the

A276 01-26.96

2

1.16-27 Foshs, Rilsch
