<br />0675 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PRELIMINARY DOLORES PROJECT WATER DEVELOPMENT PLAN <br />PREPARED FOR THE UTE MOUNTAIN UTE TRIBAL COUNCIL <br />PREPARED ~y THE UTE ~OUNTAIN WATER RESOURCES TASK FORC~ <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Water Resources Task Force has been instructed by the Tribal <br />Council to prepare plans and recommendations for beneficial use of Dolo~es <br />Project water allocations with no indebtedness or financial risk to the <br />tribe. What follows is the result of on-going Task Force efforts to <br />fulfill this directive. While this plan is preliminary in the sense <br />that it will need to be developed through the input of additional <br />information, the unfolding of events and progress in negotiations with <br />the United States and other parties, it does recommend actions that need <br />to be taken in the near future. <br />The plan will outline progress to date, a set of policy recommendations, <br />and the actions that will need to be taken to put policy recommendations <br />. into effect. This plan will be updated as needed to provide a consistent <br />framework for additional information, decisions and policies. <br /> <br />PROGRESS TO DATE <br /> <br />Domestic Water Improvement <br /> <br />1. A Domestic Water System Improvement Plan was prepared by the <br />Task Force with the assistance of KKBNA (now Chapman Engineering) <br />and adopted by the Tribal Council in April, 1983. <br /> <br />2. A total of $628,000 was secured through Indian Health Service <br /> <br /> <br />Jobs Bill funding and Community Development Block Grant funds <br /> <br /> <br />to construct a new main storage tank, renovate the east side <br /> <br /> <br />tank, and equalize water pressure throughout the community, <br /> <br />These improvements will be completed in the summer and fall of <br /> <br /> <br />1984, Funds are also being identified and programmed to <br /> <br /> <br />complete system improvements in 1985. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-1- <br />
