Plant - Stage I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5. <br />6. <br /> <br />PART 3 <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />The adequacy of the mixing will be determined by the Contracting Officer in <br />accordance with the concrete uniformity requirements of ASTM C 94, annex AI. <br /> <br />Samples of concrete for such tests will be taken by the Contracting Officer from <br />any size batch which is commonly mixed during concrete production. <br /> <br />Assist in collection of required samples. <br /> <br />Mixers will be examined regularly by the Contracting Officer for changes in <br />condition due to accumulation of hardened concrete or mortar or to wear of <br />blades. <br /> <br />Repair any mixer that at any time produces unsatisfactory results. <br /> <br />Replace a defective mixer if repair attempts are unsuccessful. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />3. <br />4. <br /> <br />EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 PREPARATION FOR PLACING <br /> <br />A. Placing, General <br /> <br />1. Place no concrete until all concrete placement drawings, detail drawings, <br />formwork, installation of items to be embedded, and preparation of surfaces <br />involved in the placement have been approved. <br /> <br />2. Concrete placement checkout cards: <br /> <br />a. Provide concrete placement checkout cards in water-tight containers for <br />each concrete placement. <br /> <br />b. List all work items required for the placement with signature lines for <br />completion by the Contractor and approval by the Government. <br /> <br />c. Do not begin concrete placements until all items listed on the checkout <br />cards have been approved by the Government. <br /> <br />d. The Government may waive the use of concrete placement checkout cards <br />where their use is impractical. <br /> <br />3. Ensure all surfaces of forms, reinforcement, and embedded materials are free <br />from curing compound, dried mortar from previous placements, and other foreign <br />substances before the adjacent or surrounding concrete placement is begun. <br /> <br />4. Prior to beginning concrete placement, make ready a sufficient number of <br />properly operating vibrators and operators, and have readily available additional <br />vibrators to replace defective ones during the progress of the placement. <br />Placement may be delayed until an adequate number of working vibrators is <br />available and sufficient preparations for cold weather protection is in place. <br /> <br />B.
