Waste minus 3/16-inch material passing through the finish screens unless <br />routed back through a sand classifier in a manner which causes uniform <br />blending with the natural sand being processed. <br /> <br />k. Drain water from finish screening in such a manner as to prevent <br />aggregate wash water from entering the batching bins and weighing <br />hoppers. <br /> <br />I. Waiver of final washing: <br /> <br />1) When provided adequate substantiation by the Contractor that <br />coarse aggregate, as batched, consistently meets specified grading <br />requirements without final washing, the Contracting Officer may <br />waive final washing requirements.. <br /> <br />2) If such requirement is waived and grading requirements are not <br />consistently met, implement immediately after notification by the <br />Contracting Officer, final washing as herein specified. <br /> <br />6. Grading <br /> <br />a. Separate the coarse aggregate into specified sizes after finish screening. <br /> <br />b. Determine in accordance with ASTM C 117 and C 136. <br /> <br />c. Conforming to grading requirements of ASTM C 33, table 2, sizes No. 57 <br />(I-inch to No.4) or NO.3 (2-inch to I-inch). <br /> <br />Coarse Aggregate Source <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />a. If coarse aggregate source has not been previously tested and approved by <br />the Government. Provide data from independent testing laboratory for <br />coarse aggregate conforming to ASTM C 33. <br /> <br />b. Provide results of petrographic examination according to ASTM C 295. <br /> <br />Contractor is responsible for the specified quality and grading of all deposits <br />selected. <br /> <br />9. Government may test coarse aggregate during processing. <br /> <br />10. Final acceptance will be based on samples taken at the batch plant. <br /> <br />11. Provide convenient facilities for safely procuring representative samples of coarse <br />aggregate at the aggregate processing plant and at the batch plant. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />1. Curing compound <br /> <br />I. ASTM C 309 <br /> <br />a. Type 1, or Type 2, Class A or B <br /> <br />b. Use wax-based curing compound for coating contraction joints and control <br />joints. <br /> <br />c. Use Type I, Class B clear, water-emulsified, resin-base curing compound <br />for all colored architectural concrete.
