,~ ~ ; ~ .1 f

(d) SLmulat. the instr.am flow tarqets of the d.v.lo~nt plan(s)

Given establishment of the relevant input data it is now appropriate to
invoke the simulation model. Here, the user could simulate the development
plan and look at the monthly hydrograph after proposed developments to see how
it compares with the requested instream flows. Alternatively, the user could
look at how developments are affected by the addition of instream flows as
senior water rights.

The simulation model is enabled by establishing input files reflecting
the instream flow targets or water rights of the development plan(s). The user
interacts with the DM! using the spreadsheet utility to formulate the input
data files, including merging of data established previously, direct editing,
and entry of comments stating the intent of the current run. Typically, a
baseline run is made for comparison to other alternate plans. The model is
then run and the results archived to the output files.

The user then accesses the results through the map utility to retrieve
simulation time series data for a selected station (e.g. gage or diversion
flows, reservoir levels). These data may be summarized in statistical form. An
overplot of the time series for the baseline or comparison case can be
obtained to assess the magnitude and timing of surpluses and/or deficits. A
hard copy of the time series could be printed along with the summary
statistics.

l.Spreadsheet Utility

Retrieve data from DB
Edit input data file
Enter guiding comment

2.Run Simulation

Specify data file
Invoke model
Specify output file

3.Map Utility

Select station

4.Time Series Utility

Display time series
Overplot comparison
flows
Statistical summary
