<br />OQll717 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />EPA Accomplishments <br /> <br />EPA has provided assistance to the SCS on use of the User's Manual: Avian Richness <br />Evaluation Method (AREM) for Lowland Wetlands of the Colorado Plateau, The manual and <br />accompanying report describing this method for evaluating wetlands for avian richness was <br />prepared by EPA's Corvallis Environmental Research Laboratory. <br /> <br />There are several other activities to report. <br /> <br />. The Region 8 and 9 Offices of EP A continued to provide assistance to the ground- <br />water contamination study in the Aneth area of southeastern Utah, Assistance <br />consisted of technical review of draft reports and organization of Aneth Field <br />Technical Committee meetings, EPA Region 9 provided partial funding for the project <br />in fiscal year 1994, <br /> <br />. The Colorado River salinity program continues to be promoted as an example of a <br />coordinated watershed approach as part of EPA's implementation of the Watershed <br />protecyon Approach initiative, <br /> <br />. EP A has met with the auditors from the General Accounting Office who are auditing <br />the Colorado River salinity program to discuss EPA's role in the salinity program and <br />some of the issues being addressed, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />EP A provided written comments to the Agricultural Stabil ization and Conservation <br />Service expressing disagreement with a proposal to do away with the current system of <br />giving priority points to applicants for salinity funding if they desire to install wildlife <br />practices, <br /> <br />. EP A participated in the various meetings of the Colorado River salinity program. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />7 <br />
