Gildersleeve <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Williams Fork (Williams River) Situation and Status of Replacement <br />Studies. <br /> <br />A filing for the Hilliams Fork Reservoir was accepted by the State <br /> <br />Engineer on January 7, 1936 and numbered 16051. Statements 'Here made in the <br /> <br />filing that the reservoir Has a portion of the Denver l1unicipal Water System, <br /> <br />a map and statement of Hhich HaS filed in the office of the State Engineer <br /> <br />on January 19, 1928. The height of dam Has given as 180 feet and the total <br /> <br />capacity 93,637 acre feet. Claim Has made for "municipal uses and other <br /> <br />beneficial purposes including irrigation, the generation of electric pOHer, <br /> <br />the use of Hater in connection with the treatment and disposal of municipal <br /> <br />Sel-lage and the exchange of l-later for any of the foregoing or other beneficial <br /> <br />purposes". Hork Has commenced by survey on November 10, 1935. Also, "Hater <br /> <br />stored in this Reservoir ~!ill be used .in part by releasing the same back in- <br /> <br />to the channel of the Williams Fork for regulating the f,lm! of said stream <br /> <br /> <br />in connection Hith the diversion of water therefrom by means of a trans- <br /> <br />mountain tunnel to be constructed thru the Continental Divide betHeen the <br /> <br />Hater shed of vlilliams Fork and the Hater shed of Clear Creek, a tributary <br /> <br />of the South Platte River". <br /> <br />The Jones Pass Tunnel Has completed in 1939. Hater is diverted <br /> <br />from the headHaters of the Williams Fork by diversion dams through pipe lines <br /> <br />into the tunnel. The first diversion l-laS in May 1940.
