Hew Many Acres of Land Will be Purchased for the Preject? <br /> <br />It is estimated that 1l,400 acres ef privately ewued land will be required <br />fer the preject. Of that area, appreximately 10,700 acres will be acquired <br />in fee title, and appreximately 700 acres will be acquired by permanent <br />and temperary easement. <br /> <br />6. Who. Will Acquire These Necessary Lands? <br /> <br />The Bureau, acting fer the United States Gevernment threugh its lecal <br />preject effice in Alamesa, Ce1erade. <br /> <br />7. When Will the Lands be Purchased? <br /> <br />Censistent with available funds, the Bureau will acquire lands and rights- <br />ef-way to. cenferm to. censtructien schedules. These areas within Stage <br />1-2 " will be acquired first with the remaining areas acquired as time <br />and funds permit threugh the 10-year censtructien peried. <br /> <br />Unless needed immediately fer censtructien purpeses, ewuers may retain <br />pessession ef acquired lands leng eneugh to. permit the erderly harvesting <br />ef creps, shifting ef livesteck, and cempletien ef permanent meves to. new <br />lecatiens. <br /> <br />8. Will Landewners and/er Tenants be Paid Meving Expenses? <br /> <br />Under previsiens' ef the Uniferm Relecatien Assistance and Land Acquisition <br />Pe1icies Act ef 1970 (Public Law 91-646), beth ewuers and tenants may <br />be entitled to. certain reimbursements incurred for certain meving expenses <br />resulting frem the preject. In additien, relecatien assistance and <br />advisory-services will be previded fer displaced persens as Q result ef <br />,the preject. Cemplete infermatien regarding, such payments erreimburse- <br />ments can,be,ebtained frem the Bureau's "right-ef-way agents'er frem the <br />lecal preject effice. <br /> <br />9. Must a Landewuer Remeve All Imprevements frem His Land? <br /> <br />This decisien is usually'left to discretien ef the landewners. If he wishes <br />to. retain all er part ef his imprevements at the appraised salvage value, <br />he may de so. provided that they are meved frem the land within a prescribed <br />peried ef time; otherwise, he will be paid the appraised value of'permanent <br />imprevements remaining en the land. These arrangements sheuld be made <br />with the right-ef-way agent during negotiatiens and preperly decumented in <br />the purchase centract. <br /> <br />10. Hew Much Will be Paid fer the Lands Acquired fer the Preject? <br /> <br />The current value ef all land and 1andrights required fer the p,eject will <br />be determined by prefessienal appraisers fellewing a careful inspectien <br />ef each individual preperty based en market value at the time the appraisal <br />is made. Market value has been interpreted by the State and Federal <br />ceurts to, mean the price agreed up en between a willing buyer and seller, <br />neither being obligated to buy er sell. The law contemplates an "epen, <br />arm's-length" transactien, fair and reasonable to all parties. <br />
