..

slurry line could .0 come from the Green R. or from the
-White River Reservoir Project in Utah. The EIS mentions that
Utah and Colorado may place restrictions on the transfer of
water from one State to another via pipeline; and, if so, a
return line would be installed.

"

Green River \'later at Bonanza

If Green River water were to be used at the Bonanza site
nine colle.:tion wells 45 feet deep would be drilled adjacent,,,Lo
the Green River about 2~ miles upstream from Walker Hollow
from which 21,270 acre-feet of water per year would be pumped.
A change of point of diversion from below the confluence of the
\~hite and Green Rivers would be required.

Green River Water at Rangely
With Green River used as an alternate supply for the Rangely
site a 38-mile pipeline would have to be constructed. The same
well-collection system as mentioned above could be necessary. The
Utah State Engineer has said that water could be piped to Colorado;
provided that citizens of Utah would benefit from its use.

Utah White River Reservoir
The use of White River water would be a~ alternate sourc=
for the Bonanza site and the preferred source for the Rangely
site. A reservoir would have to be constructed. The. construction
of a reservoir near Rangely was not proposed by Deseret. It was
proposed by people in the Rangely area.
The wlter from the Utah White River Reservoir would be aL
alternate source of supply for the Bonanza site. The EIS on this
reservoir project will be completed by the spring of 1981. The
reservoir could be constructed by the fall of 1983. The reservoir
would hold 105,000 acre-feet of water and yield 250,000 acre-
feet per year. The Utah Division of Water Resources estimated
that 185,000 acre-feet more than 'estimated by Western Engineers,
Inc. would be available at Bonanza. Western Fuels of Utah used
more stringent assumptions pertaining to the implementation of up-
stream Colorado water rights and assumed a minimum flow of 95 c.f.s.
below the Bonanza site, and said that all of the Utah White River
Reservoi;: demands except generation of hydropower could be met- in

031 A, ~1/'
~\~
,-
I
