Oept, of <br /> <br />Commerce Economic Development Administration to perform the <br /> <br />Hi9h Plains Study, <br /> <br />The $6 mill ion. 42-month High Plains study ;s (In effort <br /> <br /> <br />to determine what alternatives are available to a 15T-county, <br /> <br /> <br />six state area in which the agricultural based economy is dependent <br /> <br />on an underground ~cscrvoir of water, the Ogallala Aquifer, which <br /> <br />is rapidly being depleted. The area to be studied includes portions <br /> <br /> <br />of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. New Mexico, Colorado, <br /> <br /> <br />Kansas and Nebraska (see attached map). <br /> <br />COM is joined in this effort by Black & Veatch, Consulting <br /> <br /> <br />Engineers of Kansas City and Arthur D. Little, Inc. of Cambridge, <br /> <br />Nass. cm.' is a large environmental consulting finn, of more <br /> <br />than 1100 employees, with corporate headquarters in Boston. <br /> <br /> <br />This study, however, will be managed by the finn's Austin, <br /> <br />Texas office. Black t.
