The gaging station at Lobatos meets all of the requirements
and standards for accurate measurement of stream discharge.

2. Problems which have been encountered due to icing conditions
have been resolved by more frequent rating of the station by state hydro-
graphers stationed in the area.

3. Corrections to measured flows at this station at the end
of the calendar year will be minimal in the futurE'.

NO

1. The Lobatos Gaging Station has never been satisfactory to
measure C,olorado deliveries to the New Mexico s tate line because of
inflow downstream between that station and the state line.

2. The station does not accurately measure flows and year
end corrections to the annual discharge make ildministration difficult
and results in the State Engineer having to provide "cushions" for
downward corrections to that annual delivery.

3. Weather conditions cause inaccurate readings at the station.

STATE ENGINEER'S POSITION

With the increased number of hydrographers in the San Luis Valley and
more frequent rating of this station, the inaccuracies during adverse weather
conditions ha,ve been corrected. Continuing correlations between the Lobatos
and downstream U. S. G. S. stations have mitigated end of the year corrections
and eliminated the necessity for providing a "cushion" for these corrections.
