<br />. . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />In summary, Chevron supports the Forum's basin-wide <br />approach for salinity control, while allowing continued <br />development of compact apportioned waters. The Commission is <br />urged to reflect the acknowledgement by Congress of its <br />responsibility for the primary economic burden for controlling <br />salinity and should not place a disproportionate share of the <br />burden upon industrial water users in Colorado. The delays <br />encountered by salinity projects under the 1974 Act should not <br />penalize Colorado water users or provide for less protection of <br />the water rights guaranteed by the Compacts, the Colorado <br />Constitution and Statutes. We request that the record be kept <br />open for an additional 15 days, so that we may respond to <br />comments or information of others provided at this hearing. <br /> <br />1475 <br /> <br />-8- <br />
