To
develop a operation study for the three river reaches in the Platte
River basin the following major work tasks need to be done.

Work Tasks

A. study Period for calibration and water operation study is
chosen.

B. Historic information is collected from many sources and
assembled in useable formats (data base building). To do a
,",'ater operation study or analysis of a river basin the
following information is needed.
1. Water supply or runoff (used measure river flo\"s to
determine runoff)
2. Water use irrigation, municipal, industrial, hydro power,
recreational, and fish & wildlife.
a. irrigation information needed for surface water and
groundwater irrigation (acres irrigated over time,
acreage location, water rights, historic diversions,
cropping pattern, climate data to compute irrigation
demand, and estimates of losses or returnflows)

b. municipal information needed ( historic diversions,
population served over time, water rights, and river
return.

c. industrial information needed ( historic diversions,
present demand, water rights and river 'return)

d. hydro power information ( plant capacity,
efficiency, historic flows through plant, power
generation, water rights, and maintenance schedule)

e. recreational and fish & wildlife information needed
( use data, and water rights)

3. Hydraulic capacity of structures; reservoirs, diversions
dams, canals or pipe lines, and river channels.
Reservoirs - area\ capacity\ elevation\ outlets

4. Climate information needed; evaporation, precipitation,
temperature, solar radiation, wind speed, etc.
